French drama by 5th and 6th

Fifth and sixth classes performed a most amusing French drama today. Credit to Madame McGovern for a wonderful performance!

Aistear week 25/11/13

Junior Infants are completing the theme of 'habitats' this week. It is the jungle in the home corner where they are observing various animals with their binoculars. They are sorting and classifying land and sea creatures, building lego homes and completing their woodland booklets. 

Aistear week 18/11/13

The Senior Infants are busy practising their speaking parts for the Christmas play, but Junior Infants are still partaking in Aistear.

In the construction corner, they are building igloos. In the sand area, they are planting woodlands and creating tree books. In small world, they are creating a human habitat of homes and in the home corner they are playing in the dolls house and drawing their own homes. In art, they are creating animal faces out of paint and paper bags.

Aistear week 11/11/13

This week, the children are very busy in aistear! We are continuing our work on habitats. The children are making bugs and animals from play dough and they are drawing and cutting a sea scene (wait til you see them!) They are making bouquets of flowers at the florists and painting their mini beasts that they made from clay last week. They are listening to the story of 'dear Zoo' by Rod Campbell, writing their own letters to the zoo and building animal cages. They are also playing in the desert!

Rescue kitten Alex comes to visit

Benny's family rescued a kitten from the side of the road. They have nurtured him back to health and adopted him into their family. His name is Alex. Alex came to school today to meet all of Benny's friends. 

Aistear week 04/11/13

We started our new topic of habitats today! The children were working in the bug laboratory, making mini beasts from clay, playing in the pond, creating a dinosaur land and a woodland.
