Aistear week 27/5/2013

This week the children are learning about London. They are in role as the royal family in Buckingham Palace in the Hone corner, they are building London Bridge and sailing boats on the Thames, they are making London's Eye from straws and wheels, they are building a black cab and red bus in the construction corner and they are making crowns at the art table.

Aistear week 20/5/13

This is the children are learning about Rome and Italy. They are building the Sistine Chapel from Lego and the Colosseum from blocks. They are painting their own versions of the Mona Lisa by Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci. The children are in role as customers, chefs and waiters in the Italian Restaurant and they are making pizzas from playdough.

Aistear week 13/5/2013

This month's theme is "Famous Cities". This week the children are learning about Sydney. They are building Sydney Harbour Bridge in the construction corner, playing in Bondi Beach in the sandpit, constructing the Sydney Opera House from Lego and creating "dot paintings" inspired by Aboriginal dot art.

Aistear week 29/4/2013

This week the children are in role house buyers and estate agents, making a clown jigsaw and building a circus in the sandpit, designing posters to protect the local environment, building a fire station, learning about the dangers of electricity and experimenting with magnets.

Aistear week 7/5/2013

This is the last week of 'Our Locality'. This week the children are making homes and their contents out of playdough, building and playing in a library and learning about how a library works, in role as customers and shopkeepers in the toy shop where they are being introduced to 1c, 2c and 5c and they are sorting and classifying the toys, and constructing garages from Duplo.
